A Blessing at Pu'uhona

On August 25, 2025, Dowling Company, Inc. welcomed the first families into their new homes in the Department of Hawaiian Home Land’s newest subdivision, Puʻuhona Homestead in Waikapu, Maui with a ceremonial gathering, guided by pule and traditional Hawaiian protocol. The Puʻuhona Homestead project marks the first housing development made possible through Act 279, the transformational $600 million allocation of general funds awarded to the department in 2022 by the Hawaiʻi State Legislature for the development of homes to support Native Hawaiian families.
